1. About The Company(Overview)
Came into existence in 2011 in Bucharest, Romania, CyberGhost is the founder of one of the world’s most trustworthy privacy and security solutions in the world.
The provider secures and makes over 36 million users across the globe appear anonymous. CyberGhostVPN is known to stand for privacy as a basic human right, they were the first in the industry to publish a transparency report while building new user-oriented crypto-technology for the future.
The CyberGhost team is currently made up of over 70 professionals with a strong foundation in the IT field, based both in Romania and in Germany, with Germany being responsible for most of the software development.
With both teams united by same aim for internet anonymity, it is a major supporter and promoter of civil rights, a free society, and an uncensored internet culture.
2. Compatible Devices
CyberGhost is compatible with most platforms. It offers native apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Android TV, and Amazon’s Fire TV Stick, as well as browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox.
It also offers comprehensive installation guides for routers, Linux, Raspberry Pi, Synology NAS, VU+ Solo 2, and Chrome OS.
Best of all, you can connect to up to 7 devices simultaneously on one account.
Is CyberGhost Compatible with Netflix?
Yes. Without any hang-ups or hassles, we were able to easily stream Netflix content to our laptops and mobile devices using CyberGhost.
Even when using its Hong Kong servers, we found there was only a split-second speed reduction, which is pretty impressive considering the data has to travel halfway around the globe. In fact, CyberGhost is believed to be one of the best VPNs for Netflix.
CyberGhost isn’t just “compatible” with Netflix and other streaming services infact, it’s optimized for it. When you start up the CyberGhost app, one major thing you’d notice is the “For Streaming” displayed at the top of the main menu.
CyberGhost’s intuitive interface is clean and easy to use making it perfect for beginners.
It also offers a set of advanced features for more experienced VPN users.
Its layout makes it simple to find and configure your connection features.
In the Smart Rules window, you can customize your protection by specifying a set of connection rules.
For example, you can set a rule to auto-connect on startup, or specify if you want the app to: “Ignore,” “Ask me what to do,” or “Always connect to” specific Wi-Fi networks.
When you’re ready to connect, you have two options: you can choose a server manually, or let CyberGhost connect you to the best available server.
This will almost always be the server closest to your physical location. So, if you’re using your VPN to bypass geo-blocks, you’ll need to choose a server manually.
Overall, this is a really amazing app to use. It combines functionality with simplicity, and the final result is, quite possibly, the best VPN app available.
4. Speed and Performance
As an update to this review, I ran new speed tests with CyberGhost on servers in Europe and North America.
On a positive note, the speeds were better than last time. Unfortunately, however, they still weren’t great.
To begin, I ran some speed tests with nearby CyberGhost servers in Europe, which should (theoretically) provide me with the best speeds.
As you may have noticed, CyberGhost provides a very consistent speed across the globe. Even the most distant locations like Australia and Korea indicated impressive rates.
Based on these results, we can conclude that this VPN is one of the quickest VPNs out there.
5. Price (Free or Paid version)
On a budget? No problem.
CyberGhost is very affordable, most especially when you sign up for a year or more of service. Plus, the fact that you can connect up to seven devices at once makes it a good budget option for a family or housemates.
While it’s not the most cheapest VPN, the below-average price, money-back guarantee, and great quality service it offers make it a good one.
6. Privacy and Security
CyberGhost offers industry-leading security features. They include 256-bit encryption, a strict no-logs policy, and an automatic kill switch.
its safety was questioned following their acquisition by Kape Technologies, an Israeli ad tech company that was previously accused of hiding malware software bundles.
Users were worried that this provider new parent company could compromise their safety and privacy.
However, CyberGhost has proven that they take their users’ privacy seriously. The company publishes an annual transparency report, reinforcing its reputation as an open, honest, and trustworthy VPN provider.
Like many VPNs, CyberGhost’s website proudly boasts of a ‘strict no logs policy’ written boldly on its front page.
“…when using the CyberGhost VPN, the user’s traffic data such as browsing history, traffic destination, data content, and search preferences are not monitored, recorded, logged or stored by the Company.
More than this, when using the CyberGhost VPN, we are not storing connection logs, meaning that we don’t have any logs tied to your IP address, connection timestamp or session duration.”
Brief descriptions like this aren’t always precise, so the policy goes on to spell out the implications.
CyberGhost’s AES 256-bit encryption guarantees you the highest level of data protection available.
To put it in perspective, 50 supercomputers that could check a billion AES keys per second would require 3×10^51 years to crack a single piece of data. So, even if a hacker did intercept your information, they wouldn’t be able to read it.
It is compatible with the Tor browser. The site’s support section shows users how to configure CyberGhost with Tor, and warns that it may slow your connection speeds.
8. Pros and Cons
- 45-day money-back guarantee
- Multi-platform support.
- Decent and stable speeds.
- Priced ideally for those seeking long-term plans.
- Good for streaming including Netflix.
- Limited Payment Options
9. Conclusion: Is It Safe and Secure?
Judging from my experience, CyberGhost is one the safest and secured VPN services in the world that I highly recommend for you.
